Nestlé & DepEd Davao Region collab to promote nutrition education to over 1M students

MOA signing marks implementation of Nestlé Wellness Campus for SY 2023-2024 Nestlé Philippines and the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Davao Region recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that solidifies their partnership on nutrition education to teach healthy habits to over a million elementary and high school students in public schools in the region. This will be implemented under the Nestlé Wellness Campus, the nutrition education advocacy program of Nestlé Philippines made possible through the support of DepEd. The Nestlé Wellness Campus was initially implemented in 2013 in four regions across the Philippines. It has since expanded to seven regions and was adopted by the DepEd Davao Region in School Year 2021-2022.  Operation Smile launches Women in Medicine in Asia.  

Operation Smile’s all-female team of volunteer cleft care professionals from 12 countries celebrate the close of the six-day educational and medical mission they mounted in Cebu City recently to launch “Women in Medicine” in Asia.  The multinational team conducted a one-day forum on women empowerment in the health profession followed by five days of free surgeries on 59 children with cleft lip and cleft palate at the Cebu City Medical Center.   Operation Smile co-founder and president, Kathleen Magee, flew in from the U.S. to lead the launch.  Women in Medicine is a new global initiative that seeks to encourage women to join the health care profession, and empower them to take leadership roles in their respective fields.  It is also being piloted in Africa and in South America.  The program was created in response to the call of the World Health Organization (WHO) for women to drive the transformational […]

AMDABiDSS-Health launched to enhance disease surveillance in Mindanao

In an effort to support local government units and their corresponding health systems and agencies in Mindanao, Malayan Colleges Mindanao, in cooperation with the University of the Philippines – Mindanao, have launched the Center for Applied Modeling, Data Analytics and Bioinformatics for Decision Support Systems in Health (AMDABiDSS-Health). The virtual launch, which representatives from various universities, organizations, and the DOH attended, promoted a deeper collaboration between the academe and public policymakers and leaders.  AMDABiDSS-Health is the first-ever niche research center in Mindanao that utilizes interdisciplinary quantitative approaches to improve the disease surveillance and mitigation techniques of COVID-19 in the area.  Scientific research focused on health care has been vital in addressing the effects of the pandemic worldwide. 100 Hakbang sa Pagtutulungan virtual run fundraiser

PIOLO TAKES ON SKY’S VIRTUAL RUN CHALLENGE TO HELP ODETTE VICTIMS Piolo Pascual, multi-awarded Kapamilya actor, completed the 100-step challenge of SKY’s “Isang Daang Hakbang Sa Pagtutulungan: Kapamilya Virtual Run” and encouraged others to do the same until February 28. “Typhoon Odette wreaked havoc in several parts of our country. Lamoiyan Corporation donates 1 million worth of hygiene products to DepEd VisMin

Lamoiyan Corporation, a leading manufacturer of personal hygiene and home care products in the country, has donated over one million worth of Lamoiyan products to Department of Education (DepEd) in Visayas and Mindanao as it celebrates the 5th year of Kilusang Kontra Kuto (Movement Against Head Lice) initiative. Kilusang Kontra Kuto by Licealiz now on its 4th year

It was about at this time last year when I participated in Kilusang Kontra Kuto (KKK) led by Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo. We went to a public elementary school at the northern part of Davao City in Toril for a shampooing activity and informative discussion in preventing/fighting against head lice or nits (kuto) infestation . Now, on KKK’s 4th year, Lamoiyan Corporation continues its advocacy for a kuto-free Philippines with an aim to shampoo  around 6,000 students in 30 schools all over the Philippines. It has once again partnered with the Dept. of Education (DepEd), Drugstore Associations of the Phils (DSAP) and Mommy Bloggers Philippines. 7-Eleven Run Now on its 7th year!

Are your kicks ready for the much anticipated 7-Eleven Fun Run 2019? The 7-Eleven Run 2019 has been officially launched and is now on its 7th year. Happening simultaneously in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the exciting event will happen on February 3, 2019 and is open for both professional and recreational runners. The race was first held simultaneously in 3 locations across the country last 2018, with over 25,000 runners participating.  This year, it is expected to become even bigger, better and more exciting. Runners can expect to see new race categories, a chance to compete in an international Asian marathon, and have the opportunity to win Php500,000 cash. The race in Luzon will kick off in Filinvest City, Alabang.  The Visayas leg will be at Cebu Business Park while the Mindanao Leg will be in SM City Davao.
