Passionalism: Showcasing The Davaoeño Barong Tagalog

From June 5-12, SM Lanang Premier put on display Davao-made Barongs by Architect Michael E. Dakudao in celebration of Philippine Barong Tagalog Week. Dubbed as Passionalism: An Exhibit of the Barong Davaoeño, the exhibit at the mall’s Atrium features Arch. Dakudao’s elegant collection of the Philippine national attire for men, the Barong Tagalog. It aims to rekindle the love for the Philippines and encourage appreciation for our very own national costume. Architect Dakudao  has been featured in many publications for his admirable passion for collecting Barong Tagalog, especially those made from sinamay and piña, decorated with handsewn embroidery. He received his Doctorate degree in Architecture from Tokyo University, and he has been adding pieces to his collection as an influence from his Japanese professor who inspired him to appreciate the national costume more while studying at Tokyo University.
