JCI Philippines’ Liter of Light Project

Filipinos are well-known  for their creativity and ingenuity. Tough times bring out resourcefulness to create useful things we never thought would be possible. I was simply amazed and genuinely proud (knowing that this was a brainchild of a kababayan) when I saw a feature of this on TV : a portion of an empty PET liter bottle filled with a mixture of chlorine/salt/filtered water, and installed by a scrap GI sheet, rubber sealant and rivets would brighten peoples’ homes at maximum cost of P5o each per Solar Liter bulb. For people living below the poverty line, the improvised Solar Liter Bottles provide great impact to their lifestyle. This would mean so much for those who cannot afford to buy conventional bulbs and fluorescent lights that needed to be replaced on a regular basis. For what used to be dark kitchen, dining or living rooms, will now radiate with  hopeful  “liters” […]

Globe Brings Modernized Network In Davao and Key Areas in Mindanao

If you are a person on the go who relies so much with communication technology to undertake daily activities, there’s no better news than having these things updated to keep up with the rest of the world.  Whether we like it or not, internet and  telecommunication have also become like common staples we couldn’t live without.  You wouldn’t be surprised that even at the most casual gathering of friends and  formal business meetings,  there’s only one thing that people would ask first— WIFI PASSWORD!!!   So when Globe Telecom invited us bloggers for a round table discussion to share their latest updates on network modernization all over the country especially in key areas in Mindanao last November 22 at the Royal Mandaya Hotel, I wasn’t surprised  but somehow felt excited because after all this is the ideal direction we would want for our local telecommunication industry to have. We now […]

Canon makes another milestone for the Davaoenos as it moves its regional office to a bigger location at Sta. Ana Avenue, Davao City last November 8. Now that it caters to an amazingly increasing number of photo hobbyists and professionals within the city and nearby provinces around Mindanao, Canon stays true to its motto, “Delighting You Always” by making its customer support within easy reach. Together with other members of the Davao Bloggers, I was able to witness the inauguration of their new office and was quite impressed with the Canon management’s thrust towards excellence in delivering quality products and services to its clients. The event started early in the morning with as if to usher in blessings and good vibes to their new abode. It was also attended by other members of the media and friends from the business sector. SM Lanang Premier Brings Flash Mob Ala Gangnam Style

I have never experienced to see a flash mob live in front of me until this interesting event sponsored by SM Lanang Premierlast November 3. I went there, together with there other bloggers and we were only told to cover a special surprise event. Totally clueless about a flash mob coming along, we just waited by the fountain court stair steps with the thick crowd usually present on a regular weekend day. Little did we know that around 200 girls and boys from various dance groups in Davao were scattered around the area preparing for their little surprise. To everyone’s amazement, the familiar tune of the most played song in YouTube history ever, Oppa Gangnam Style sung by Psy started to envelop the crowd. In a minute, a mob of dancers were lined up in formation right before the delighted audience. Children of all ages, including us, watched with glee, […]

I Just Love Blog Giveaways !!!

Everybody loves freebies. Free taste, free wi-fi, free whatever. And since I am currently enjoying my blogger mode, I came to know the world of blogger’s giveaways! And mind you, they are aplenty. You’re only investment is time and your best judgement if that particular giveaway is something you like or worth your time. Okay so, a few months ago, I was invited to join a Facebook group of warm and accommodating Filipino bloggers here and abroad, Filipino Bloggers Forum. There I met the pros (they really are!), joined their blog hopping and blog commenting activities. I specially liked the idea of being part of the blogging community and learning from my co-bloggers.They are truly a source of inspiration for a new blogger like me. Anyways, as I blog hopped, I stumbled upon Kikay Corner and her blog about her giveaway last October. Any girl, specifically a stressed mother-online worker-homemaker, […]

PAGSIBOL: Cosplay Event and More

I had a very busy schedule last two weeks ago, aside from the blogger events I attended to, my kids also had their respective school activities that were not to be missed. This made me activate my mommy multi-tasking mode again and so I was on the go and had to be there for my son Gabby for his first ever Cosplay event. Cosplay  which  is coined from the words,  ‘costume play’, is a kind of performance arts on stage where participants accessorize and wear costumes, and  represent a certain character (mostly Anime or Japanese cartoon characters). Take note, I didn’t urge him to join, I was just surprised when weeks before the show, he handed me a letter of consent form for me to sign.  It was a pleasant surprise since he never showed any interest before in going on stage, and in the mall at that, and wearing a costume, […]

Free WordPress Set up for Davao Bloggers From Fifty Shades of Jay!

Every blogger dreams of  upgrading his/her blog to become a self hosted one. I have been, too, until I met a great group of bloggers recently. They were the ones who inspired me to take my blog to the next  level.  For weeks I’ve been delaying the big move, until Jay of  Fifty Shades of Jay poked my Facebook inbox offering free service to help me with my blog. Whoa! Who couldn’t resist such a friendly offer? So off  to Hostgator.com and Namecheap.com I went to buy my own domain and hosting for a year. This is it, yeah. After hours of valuable assistance  from Jay(or was it bugging to the max?) in transferring my existing WordPress account to my newly set up blog, my new domain is finally up!  Although, I am still currently exploring to spice it up with widgets and stuff, I can’t thank him enough for […]
